| Faversham is a small town with a big history. At the centre of the town is the master Shepherd Neame Brewery. The brewery has been in the town since 1698 making it the oldest in the country. It offers 2 hour tours explain its history and how the beer is produced. It even includes a little tasting. Faversham also has the remains of the gunpowder works in which 200 tonnes of TNT exploded in 1916. Also it has its fair share of wildlife. The ease of access from the sea made Faversham a roman settlement which turned into the town today, there are many reminders of roman occupation in and around Faversham including the stone chapel which is the ruined remains of the “church of our lady of Elwarton” located next to the A2 just west of Ospringe.
